There was a minister who became weary from hearing one of his laypersons quoting Scripture to prove or justify all his actions. He would pull a verse from the Scriptures, twist its meaning, and gloat himself as a biblical scholar. Determined to prove how wrong he was, the minister said, "I can prove that you ought to go out and commit suicide." "Then prove it," the parishioner replied. The minister quoted, "In Matthew we read that Judas hung himself. (27:5) Then in another place, the Scriptures read, 'Go out and do likewise.' (Luke 10:37)"
