There is something...

There is something within people that automatically draws them to a spectacular event. In Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost a spectacular event happened in an upper room occupied by disciples of Jesus Christ. Luke describes the event to a friend. He writes that as the disciples met together in one place, without warning as they were praying, a sound came like a tornado that filled the whole house. Then fire fell from heaven and came to rest on each of them. Next they began speaking in different languages. It was the work of the Holy Spirit to send them out into the streets of the city boldly proclaiming the salvation of Jesus.
John Wesley said that at Aldersgate Street at about 8:45 p.m., he felt his heart "strangely warmed." It was there that he put his trust in Christ alone for salvation, and he was given assurance that Christ took his sins away.
