There are times when the Lord is more conspicuous about personally tending to the needs of his messengers. In several of her writings, Corrie ten Boom tells a story of one such incident in her experience. Because she and her sister had participated in a network of folks helping Jews escape the Nazis during World War II, they themselves had been arrested and placed in a concentration camp. Betsie had suffered from an illness which required a dose of vitamins each day. Since there were strict rules against bringing in more medicine for prisoners, Corrie was understandably concerned about that time when the vial of liquid vitamin would be depleted. Betsie knew that the Lord would provide, but Corrie nursed some pretty heavy doses of doubt as time went on. As word spread among the prisoners that the sisters had a vial of vitamins, others asked Corrie to share the vitamins with them as well. Out of her admitted selfishness and concern for her ailing sister, Corrie complained about the sharing and the strict rules throughout her stay in prison. Miraculously, the vitamin vial never became empty until the day Betsie died shortly before Corrie was released from prison. Even then, the Lord kept pursuing, protecting and encouraging Corrie until she promised to continue the ministry of good news sharing following her war-time experience. -- Thompson
