This text is one of the high-water marks of the New Testament's witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul opens the chapter by recounting the many appearances the risen Jesus made during the forty days he spent earthbound prior to his ascension. A detective friend in the Chicago Police Homicide Division has shared with me stories from his long career in law enforcement that horrify and shock. He has often been called to the site of a murder of a young person. In fact, he told me many young people in the housing project ghetto world have given up on life.
