Susanna Wesley, the mother of seventeen children, including John and Charles, taught each of her children with love and care. Very early in their lives, she taught them the value of discipline. Susanna homeschooled her children and set aside time nearly every day to spend time one on one with her children. That called for a lot of patience.
She believed the first thing to be done was to conquer the will. She said, "Whenever a child is corrected he/she must be conquered. Self-will is the root of all sin and misery."
