Suppose a stonemason is busy building a wall when a quantum physicist happens along. The physicist, proud of his advanced knowledge, pontificates: "Did you know, those stones in your hands are mostly empty space? They're made up of atoms, and the atoms themselves are mostly space, inhabited by particles of energy zooming around in random orbits. The hardness of the stone is nothing more than a mysterious attraction those sub-atomic particles have for one another."
