Some years ago, there was a great preacher in the Church of Scotland, Dr. Alexander Whyte. During his time, an evangelist came to Edinburgh, and in his preaching, began criticizing the local clergy. One man who heard the evangelist do this reported it to Dr. Whyte: "The evangelist said that Dr. Hood Wilson was not a converted man," he told Whyte.

This angered Whyte, who sprang up from his chair and called the evangelist a "rascal."
