Some frogs were hopping through the woods. Suddenly, two of them fell into a large hole. They croaked for help.

Drawn to the commotion, other frogs gathered around the pit. They looked at the steep sides of the hole. They gauged the distance of the vertical leap. They said the physics of the situation were against them. It was useless. They might as well give up. More frogs came to watch when they heard of the imminent disaster.
