So often in this world we figure that the only response to violence is more violence. But in early 1997 there was a call for all the nations of the world to destroy their nuclear weapons. That proposal came from a group of more than fifty former generals and admirals from around the world. That movement was led by U.S. General Lee Butler, who from 1992-1994 was the Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Air Command. In other words, he was the one in charge of much of the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
