Snakes had never been one...

Snakes had never been one of her favorite creatures, so when the real estate agent showing the house cautioned her that the previous owner, incidentally, kept pet snakes in the basement, she was less than thrilled. "I just thought you should know before we look at that part of the house," the real estate person continued. "Some people are really put off by the idea and prefer not to see the basement." Well, she was one of them! But she couldn't very well make an informed decision about whether to buy the house without seeing all of it. No, she had to at least go downstairs and look around, snakes or no snakes. This house was so much nicer than the place she had been living for the last few years.
