Several years ago, I had dinner with a ten-year-old in the congregation I was serving. She had a question for me: "Why doesn't God talk to people anymore, like in the olden days?" She explained that God had spoken to Moses and Noah, but not to people in modern times. Why was this? I answered that I think that God does still speak to people, but that most modern people do not expect to hear God speaking to them. Thus, we often miss out on what God is saying to us. Her eyes widened like saucers as she leaned toward me and exclaimed, "You mean God could have given an 11th commandment and someone wasn't listening?"
