A science class in elementary school studied magnets in one of its lessons. The teacher was eager to see what her students had learned so she gave them a test. One of the questions went like this: "My name starts with 'M,' has six letters, and I pick up things. What am I?"
Most of the class answered "Mother" to the question. Their answer may have been more a testimony to the importance of mothers in their lives than to their failure to learn the nature of magnets.
