The Rev. Dr. Laurence (Sic) Howe, sometime professor of homiletics in Olivet Nazarene University, was the chapel speaker on a certain occasion. He stood at the lectern with his great dignity disguising his very affectionate heart. There was compassion in his voice: what he was saying came from his sense of urgency that every student would be able to seek and find the core problems of life and not concentrate on peripheral matters. He read the gospel story about Mary, Martha, Lazarus and Jesus. He gave the general context and then made one point, only one. Then he sat down.
