Reunions are usually fun occasions. It's great to chat with families and catch up on the
old days. When Joseph revealed his identity to his brothers, it was one extraordinary
time. Both Joseph and his brothers had done things they'd regretted. When a boy, Joseph
ratted on his brothers and seemed to flaunt his "Armani" coat. To be sure, they
overreacted to their brash younger brother.
How the years had changed their circumstances. The power was now in his hands and Pharaoh likely would not have questioned him had he taken vengeance on them.
But Joseph did all the right things. He forgave. Putting aside his resentment, he saw God's hand working fully in all the past events. When we forget offenses against us, and recognize how God can bring good even from evil intentions of others, it makes for glad reunions. It can even make us happier as we travel to them.
