As refugees go, Joseph, Mary, and Jesus had it relatively easy. An angel warned Joseph to flee before the carnage began. The family fled to Egypt to live. When the danger was passed, an angel appeared to Joseph with the message of "all clear."
Most refugees don't have it this easy. Consider Golibsoh, a young boy of twelve, from Tajikistan. "The civil war affected us very much. They burned our house and took our things and clothes. We went to Dushanbe -- the capital -- as refugees. We had great difficulty in the city. We worn (sic) hungry all day long. My mother sold plastic bags at the market and bought us some food."
