Public education, an oxymoron
The Political Pulpit
Public education has become an oxymoron. Strange statement, but as I observe what it
was intended to accomplish and the rather delusional way it is realized today, the idea of
public and education seem from two different worlds. Whether education is the
conventional public school format, the charter school or private academy, or the
ubiquitous home school, all are very much public in that the citizens or inhabitants called
students attend. All three of these categories are very real choices for every child of
school age.
