The proud commander, Naaman, suffered an incurable malady. He had ordered burly
men into conflict and defeated ferocious foes in battle, but disease now disfigured him.
He would do anything and pay every expense to be healed.
Only one person promised hope -- a prophet residing in a country he scorned. But Naaman went to him. When the commander's military procession arrived at the preacher's door, however, Elisha didn't even bother to greet him. He sent a messenger to say, "Dip in the Jordan River seven times and you'll be healed."
