In practical terms, what does "love one another" involve for Jesus' followers? In this command is he asking us to love other Christians more than we love nonbelievers? Or is he telling us to love all people, including other Christians? A newly married couple moved to an area where most of the population belong to one particular denomination. While shopping at an appliance store, the husband asked the price on a certain refrigerator. The proprietor responded with a question of his own: "Do you belong to The Church?" This couple soon learned that in that region the merchants reduce their prices for fellow members of this religious organization. If it is unethical to refuse to do business with those of certain religious affiliations, is it not equally unethical to show economic favoritism toward those of certain religious affiliations? Or is this practice simply one way for disciples to show "love" toward one another? -- Bristow
