On the popular television show Promised Land, October 1, 1998, angels told both a woman who had killed a man and faced the death penalty and another woman who had became an alcoholic that "God does not judge us," "that he will forgive us if we ask him," that he loves us so much that "he has a plan for us," and that "the future is going to be filled with happiness." It is no wonder that the series is quite popular. However, none of these things the angels told the women is true without faith in Christ as the Savior.
The text shows that we are not judged by God because of Jesus Christ through whom we have forgiveness and not condemnation. It also shows that a life of blessing and happiness in following God's plan for us comes not from our own decision or determination but from God's Spirit, who lives in those who believe in the only Savior, Jesus Christ.
