The poor widow accepted poverty...

The poor widow accepted poverty in order to celebrate her love for God and to show where her heart was. Though not often enough, she has through history been imitated with powerful consequences. Mahatma Gandhi became an unlikely leader of the great Indian state. Even as an international figure he persisted in leading a life of poverty. He once gave a lecture to a distinguished audience of maharajahs, exhorting them to give up their money and possessions and to embrace a life of poverty and simplicity. As the presentation progressed, the audience began to melt away.
