Pete went to jail when...

Pete went to jail when he was nineteen. Growing up in the streets of the Bronx, survival was the goal and all the boys in the neighborhood did what they had to do. Pete joined a gang not so much because he wanted to, but because he had to. Friendship, protection, an identity, something to do, and a possible way to make a living had all been part of the rationale for joining up. But then Pete went to jail for his part in a gas station robbery.
