Pentecost is recognized as the birthday of the church. Sometimes the differences within a church make one wonder how the church can continue. Consider this church: its founding pastor was executed as a criminal, its lay leader cursed and denied he ever knew the pastor of that small band. The church's first treasurer committed suicide. Most of the remaining board members ran away. Only a small band of women remained faithful.
