Paul's statement that "those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for him who died for them and was raised again," is parallel to the belief of Islamic peoples that "whoever saves a life owns that life." For the Moslem, the belief is that since it was written that you should have died at a certain time and place, the person who rescues you owns the time you have left in your life in this world. This is not undue power, but a burden and responsibility, both for the rescuer and the saved, who have obligations to each other in light of the rescue that has taken place.
