This passage of Scripture is a prayer by Solomon. The King invokes the covenant between God and his people. He asks God to be attentive, even to a foreigner who is sincerely seeking God.
When Franklin Roosevelt was governor of New York state, he sent to an Albany bookstore for a popular book entitled, "Seekers After God." A note came back from the bookstore as follows:
"Governor,
We have inquired around town but there are no seekers after God left in Albany. Try Schenectady."
