The Parliament building in Ottawa...
Illustration
The Parliament building in Ottawa, capital of Canada, has a chapel in its Peace Tower. In the center of the chapel, there is a glass-covered ark on which is placed a huge book. The book contains the hand-written names of every Canadian soldier who died in World War I. Every day at 11 a.m. (the hour at which, on the 11th of November, 1918, the armistice was signed ending the war), a guard enters the chapel and ceremoniously turns the page of the book, revealing a new set of names.
