A pastor whose name I do not know gave a simple image that goes like this: Into our darkness, Jesus came as the light. He passed the light to us and said, "Go into the world and shine brightly for all who walk in darkness." It seems that universally children are afraid of the dark. Why is that? Is it an instinctive fear that darkness hides some lurking danger, some monstrous destruction? All of that is true and continues to be true no matter how many artificial fluorescents we turn on. Adults who think that peace and security are assured are still susceptible to the darkness and the dangers. The evil one "prowls around like a roaring lion seeking to devour." So consider the calling to walk in the light; to be upheld and saved by the One who is the Light.
