Our two sons watched as we boarded the huge TWA jet which would carry us on the first leg of our journey to the British Isles. We waved to them from one of the tiny windows of the aircraft. It is doubtful they saw us, but we could see them waving goodbyes in the general direction of where they thought we would be sitting.
The great turbines accelerated and the aircraft taxied toward the runway where it would soon take flight. In a matter of moments, there came the tremendous thrust of power, and we were airborne.
The boys said, later, they had watched from the terminal window until the plane was out of sight. Then, rather than sitting down in the airport awaiting our return, they went on to tend their responsibilities. They had things to do.
Following our Lord's ascension, there were those who continued to stare into the sky even after he was out of sight. Suddenly, two men in white robes stood beside them and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?"
It was time to get on with the business of the kingdom.
