The original copy of the...

The original copy of the U.S. Constitution is housed in the National Archives, where they have it under protective glass and surrounded by some kind of specially treated air that keeps the parchment from decaying. They even have it set up so that in the event of war or anything like that, the Constitution can be lowered into a kind of concrete bunker, about four stories beneath ground level. Some people might wonder why we should go to all that trouble of protecting the original copy of the Constitution that way. After all, are there not copies of the Constitution all over the place -- in textbooks, in encyclopedias, and in almanacs? But by keeping the original, we will always have something that all those copies can be compared to. Jesus presents himself as the one true measure by which we are to judge our faith and life.
