One never knows where a simple introduction will lead one in his or her life. For instance, back in the early 40s a farmer's wife said to one of the hired hands, "Sometime I'd like to introduce you to my sister. I think you two would like each other." The young man agreed to the idea and began to look forward to the meeting.
It wasn't long before the sister came to visit at the farm and the promised introduction was made. The two smiled sheepishly as they later agreed to try a first date together. Soon, the young lady found herself feeling joyful anticipation on days when her new boyfriend would be coming for a visit. Years later she would tell her children how she would sit on the front porch of her parents' farm house and look for the plume of dust in the distance, signaling the imminent arrival of her husband-to-be as he sped along the dirt country road to pick her up.
Well, today, almost 50 years since their introduction by an interested third party, they still enjoy a close, loving relationship. Please know that their relationship has been tested by tough times over the years. But, just as Peter and Jesus used forgiveness and commitment to sustain their relationship, so have my parents worked at their togetherness and partnership. Life has been good to them, and it all started with a very special introduction.
