One of Luther's great contributions...

One of Luther's great contributions to the church's theology was the rediscovery of the idea of the "priesthood of all believers." This great doctrine reminds us that Christ connects to all of us and that we all have a priestly ministry.
Sadly, this doctrine is often misunderstood. To many it means that anyone can go to God on their own. They don't need anyone else because the Holy Spirit is available to all. This isn't at all what Luther or Scripture understood.
