Often people's attention gets focused on the messenger instead of on God. Consider the way the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas, devoted themselves to David Koresh. Or years ago there was the way the followers of Jim Jones joined in a mass suicide at his command. But even outside of cults there is a tendency for people to focus more on the religious leaders than on God. How many people do you know who are devoted to Robert Schuller, Oral Roberts, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson or some other religious figure? Moses is depicted as the ultimate mediator of God. He knew that what he had to offer the people was solely the result of what God had given to him. His glory came from the way that God was at work in his office. -- Bowen
