Mike grew up in the church and like many people began drifting away after graduating from high school. Four years later when he left the Navy he remembers feeling empty inside and could not seem to find contentment. He searched for meaning in his life.
He soon found a job driving a school bus that brought him into contact with school-aged children for the first time in years. Being with the children every day allowed him to examine his own "inner child." Mike describes it as a maturing process.
Mike went to the library and began reading books on a variety of subjects including popular books on faith. One particular book written by C.S. Lewis was like a conversion experience, Mike claims. After reading the book he suggested it to a friend, who also read it. Together they discussed issues of faith. Mike realized how much he needed Jesus in his life. Mike returned to church where he was warmly welcomed. Before too long Mike volunteered to put a resource library together at the church, for others like him, who need direction or to reconnect with faith.
The prophet Jeremiah warned the people. They had forsaken the Lord God; they had forgotten their rich heritage. Instead they were acting like ungrateful children complaining. Jeremiah hoped that the people would see the error of their way and return to the Lord. It is never too late to turn back to the God who loves us and all people.
