As a newly-ordained pastor...

As a newly-ordained pastor read a local newspaper, his eyes fell upon an obituary. As he scanned the details of that person's life, he noticed that a sister was a member of his congregation. His training in pastoral care quickly brought him to his member's home. Nervously he rang the doorbell. When no one answered, the pastor decided to check the back door. As he rounded the corner of the house, singing filled the air. The tune and the hymn were recognized immediately: "Despair Not, O Heart, In Thy Sorrow." It was one of the finest funeral hymns in his hymnal.
