This passage, which reflects the ideas of Second Isaiah, has to do with homecoming. It seems to me that this could be tied in, at this season, to the joys of the Christmas homecomings that should be fresh in the minds of many parishioners. Then a transition could be made to the idea of God bringing home God's people, recalling the return from Babylon, and then moving on to the idea of the Christ even as God's climactic attempt to bring back the people.
