In the movie, Mass Appeal, the parish priest dares to have a Sunday series titled, "Dialogue Sermons." After a period of time and some embarrassing questions from members of the congregation, he is not certain that he wants to continue this type of sermonizing. Supposing some Sunday, in the middle of our message, a sincere member of the congregation stands up and stops us with a question of great concern. After we have regained our composure, we attempt to answer that person's question. Apparently it was not uncommon for listeners in New Testament times to stop the preacher. The questions asked by members of John's wilderness congregation were very serious and down-to-
