In the movie, Flatliners, a group of young medical students each in turn experiences an induced near-death experience in an effort to scientifically explore life after death. Rather than a pleasant, heavenly experience, each is forced to feel the pain of people he victimized at some time in his life. Even after they are revived, they are haunted by their victims until they finally confess their guilt and make atonement. In the end they are stronger, healthier, happier people, because without their realizing it, the unresolved guilt buried within their souls had been sickening them through the years. Guilt is like a stone in your shoe. The longer you ignore it the more painful it will become, until you are forced to do something about it. -- Welborn
