In the mid-20th century, Edgar A. Guest was a well-known verse-writer. He wrote a homey verse a day for almost half a century. He died in 1959, but you'll still find books of his poems in flea markets.
One of his poems that is a good life motto is, "Somebody said it couldn't be done." The poem goes on to tell how a fellow took off his hat and went to work and got it done.
