Many things in life come in threes. Early in school we learned that the necessities of life are food, shelter, and clothing. Later on, we learned that the government has three major divisions: the legislative, the executive, and the judicial. The home includes father, mother, and the child or children. So it goes.

Also there are three tenses of the verb: past, present, and future. "I went to the balsam. I am going to the balsam today. I will go to the game tomorrow."

John tells us in the last book of the Bible that God "is, was, and is to come."
