Many people live by the flesh and end up dying by the flesh. Researchers say that death rates in the United States spike immediately after the first of the month. They theorize that is because people who have problems with alcohol or drugs are more likely to indulge soon after receiving government assistance or other payments, which usually arrive on or around the first of each month. The researchers at the University of California, San Diego back up their findings by pointing out that deaths due to drug overdoses, suicides, and car accidents are all more frequent at the beginning of each month, and such deaths are all regular by-products of alcohol or drug use.
