"For many ... live as enemies of the cross of Christ." (Philippians 3:18)
Harold had had it. It had been another disappointing Lenten season for him. Despite his best efforts, attendance was down again. The offerings were dismal. Enthusiasm waned and apathy reigned.
As pastor, Harold could see the problem but he felt powerless in challenging these well-intended "enemies of the cross." He could see that their "god is the belly" and that their minds were truly "set on earthly things."
