Many Europeans marvel at the vastness of the North American continent and the countries that call it home. Within the United States, for example, one can wander over vast deserts, climb snow-capped mountains, hike through a rain forest, skim across tropical everglade swamps, gaze across the endless prairie, and sail huge inland lakes. One can experience hot dry summers or hot muggy summers. Some locations enjoy four seasons of summer sun, fall colors, winter snowstorms, and spring showers. Other locations remain hot year round.
