A man and his wife...

A man and his wife, who had lived together for more than fifty years, promised each
other that they would care for each other until death took one of them. Because of a
lifetime of calling on patients in nursing care facilities, they especially did not want this
as their final place of living. They repeated this promise before children and other family
members. Then one day, after the husband had been hospitalized for several weeks, the
doctors advised the wife that she would have to move him to a long-term facility.
