As long as there are...

As long as there are tests, there will be prayer in school.
A young lady came to her pastor with a problem. She was chosen as the class valedictorian, which meant that she was to deliver a speech at graduation. In her speech, she spoke about how uncertain and frightening she found the world, and she wished her classmates the best as they left the safety of high school and entered into the world. She closed her speech with this quote, "We do not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future." She found a great deal of comfort in this thought and for this reason she wanted to share it with her classmates. She shared her speech and her thoughts with the senior class advisor, a teacher, who suggested that she might wish to change her ending, to omit the quote. The reason the teacher gave her for doing this was that she should not offend people by speaking about God in a public place. This is why the young girl went to see her pastor: to get some advice on what she should say in her speech.
The pastor told her that it was not the goal of Christians to offend people. When Jesus sent his disciples out in groups of two, his objective was not to offend people. Some people might take offense at what she says, but Christians must never shrink from bearing witness to God and how the Lord has been active in their lives. Witnessing must be done in a proper way -- we must not nag people or judge them on force them to believe as we believe, but, when the opportunity presents itself, we must witness. What advice would you have given to this young lady?
