As long as Moses held...

"As long as Moses held his hands up, the Israelites would win the fight (Exodus 17:11, The Everyday Bible)." This action of lifting up the hands represented the attitude for prayer -- intercessory prayer. Chuck Swindoll gives some suggestions for intercessory prayer in his book, The Quest for Character. (Charles Swindoll, The Quest for Character, Portland, Oregon: Multnomah Press, 1987, page 130.) Swindoll suggests writing down the names of people on the left side of a sheet of paper or a three-by-five card. In parentheses after each name, write at least one need you are aware of. Leave room on the right side of the paper for answers. Once a week update the card. Keep the list handy for those spare moments when you pray for these people. "Trust me," writes Swindoll, "this will provide a whole new dimension to your walk with Christ. It will definitely get you out of your own personal world."
