In our contemporary culture when something cannot be explained by science or solved by technology, God is invoked as a shorthand for the ultimate reference in what we do not know
or can explain. God becomes "a God of the gaps."
Paul invokes God's name on another level. He sees God as the only one who can fill the "gaps" and "shortcomings" in our Christian life and faith. Much of this work of fulfillment and completion is aided by Paul's example and instruction.
