In Lloyd Douglas' novel The Robe there is a conversation between Marcellus and Diana. The former is trying to explain what a strange effect finding the robe has upon him. The robe has a healing quality about it. Diana suggests the reason may be that the man who wore the robe had been a lonely man, too.
Marcellus replies: "Curiously enough that was the sensation I had when I held the Robe in my arms. Some strange friendship -- a new, invigorating friendship -- had come to my rescue."
