Living among the tombs is...

"Living among the tombs" is an epithet not simply for the antisocial and demon oppressed, but equally for those who have reached the pinnacle of success but have lost their higher purpose. Their search for personal meaning is sequestered by the daily round of "getting and spending, of having and holding." Arthur Miller's Willy Loman is a classic story of life among the tombs. A travelling salesman, Willy never discovers those deeper recesses of his soul. He never comes to know and learn himself. His idea of success, love and respect are embodied by those who are well liked.
