The lad loved the trips to Grand-mother's house. Each summer his dad would go with him on a train trip overnight to the faraway city where he would visit Grandmother for a week or two. Little did the lad realize the side benefit his father was receiving. He was getting to visit his mother for a day before he would return home to work. The lad thought only of the benefits Grandmother always heaped on him, like candy, chocolate milk, and a visit to the big city zoo, and the many lessons that Grandmother taught him. She was great at Chinese checkers, puzzles, and dominoes.
