Illustration
A labyrinth is like a maze. But the difference is that a maze has many dead ends. If you take a wrong turn in a maze, you can become lost. But a labyrinth is a winding pattern in which, as long as you keep moving forward, you can know that you will eventually reach the destination. The use of labyrinths in churches can be traced back to at least the twelfth century.
