On one occasion G. K. Chesterton was taking a trip by train. He became so engrossed in what he was reading that he forgot where he was going. Chesterton was snapped back to reality when the conductor called out a station name. When the train stopped, he jumped up from his seat, dashed off and ran to the nearest phone to call his wife. When she answered the phone, he blurted out, "My dear, I am here! Where am I going?"
She patiently replied, "Gilbert, look at your ticket!"
In those frantic moments when we can only hope we are going in the right direction, Easter Day reminds us to look at our ticket which was purchased by the sacrifice of the cross. It says, "But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep."
